Villages Key to Containing Explosive GTA Growth
The keys to "smart and sustainable growth" are strategically located existing villages with a Master Planned mix of low and medium density housing, local industry, institutions and commercial. They would have traditional downtown cores, but feature circular residential and industrial streets, augmented by spokes connecting to regional cities. Intervening farmland, forest and recreational areas would be spared development. Post-pandemic economic stimulation could start with a couple of village make-overs north and west of the GTA's green belt. This would set the stage for civic infrastructure projects through the balance of the century. Think round-abouts and Master Planned expansion of small town sltes dispersed in midst of heavy industry/major employment regions.
